June 8, 2012 - DTI Group to Provide Video Surveillance Systems to Ansaldo STS for Rio Tinto Level Crossings

DTI Group is pleased to announce an initial order for video surveillance systems by Ansaldo STS Australia Pty Ltd to monitor level crossings on rail lines operated by Rio Tinto in the Northwest of Western Australia. Rio Tinto operates one of the world’s largest privately owned railroads with the network providing bulk transport of iron ore from various mine sites to specialised loading ports.

Each level crossing will be equipped with DTI's latest hybrid Mobile Digital Recorder (MDR-5) with four high ddefinition megapixel IP cameras coupled with night time IR strobe illumination for high speed vehicle number plate capture and laser obstruction detector. The level crossing system is seen as a safety tool to review and evaluate level crossing use.

The scope of works also includes DTI's equipment management software suite. DTI's comprehensive back-end CCTV management system will centralise and coordinate the level crossing CCTV network and allow video evidence to be recovered from level crossings through an on-line automated CCTV 'booking' system providing significant benefits through the easy management of equipment, video retrieval and video storage.

This project expands on DTI's success in providing advanced surveillance solutions and services to unique and demanding environments.

Richard Johnson, Managing Director for DTI said: “We are pleased that Ansaldo and Rio chose DTI for this unique and challenging project. We hope that this system provides an important safety and security tool for the many level crossings in their rail network.”
