June 13, 2011 - DTI Group to Provide Video Surveillance Systems for Perth Taxis

DTI Group is pleased to announce the approval by the Government of Western Australia for DTI to be a supplier of video surveillance systems to the Perth taxi fleet. The approval follows the announcement on 5 January 2011 by the West Australian Minister of Transport that the Government will be providing $7.74 million to assist qualifying taxi operators to replace the existing taxi camera surveillance units installed in their taxis.

Each taxi equipped with DTI's solution will include the latest hardened Mobile Digital Recorder (MDR-5) and four high resolution cameras. The scope of works also includes DTI's GPS-based vehicle location system and DTI's video management software suite.

This project further extends the citywide solution which DTI commenced supplying in 2001 for Perth’s fleet of over 900 buses. Importantly, these systems continue to be supported by DTI and also function with the most recent generation of software. In 2005, DTI signed a contract to provide video and passenger information systems for 48 metro trains in Perth. In 2006, DTI signed a five-year agreement to provide ongoing hardware and software maintenance for the bus surveillance systems in Perth with the Western Australian Government. The agreement included additional services such as help-desk support, equipment monitoring, equipment reporting, and hardware maintenance.

This project further builds on DTI's success in providing advanced citywide transit surveillance solutions and services across multiple modes of transport in multiple cities.

Keith Hughes, General Manager for DTI in Australia, said: “We are pleased with the continued and long-term support of the Western Australian Government and its leading initiative with surveillance systems on taxis in Perth.”
