December 16, 2010 - DTI Group to Provide Video Surveillance Systems to Major US City

DTI Group is pleased to announce the approval by a key US city to a major US-based global security provider to equip 341 buses with digital surveillance systems. This announcement further endorses the September 2009 signing of an agreement to provide advanced digital video recorders and software (Mobile Recording Solutions) to this major global security provider which is based in the United States. The security provider has one of the largest market shares in public transit in the US and an association with DTI dating back to 2006. The terms of the agreement do not allow disclosure from either company including the other party’s name.

The mobile recorder and software suite was selected after an extensive trial which was originally commenced in March 2009. The solution includes a GPS-based vehicle location system, wireless data communications infrastructure, and a fleet management software suite. The provider was one of eight companies invited to present products for evaluation and was one of three further selected to provide trial equipment.

The mobile recorder will be supplied in 8 and 16 camera versions and record at a maximum 30 pictures per second, per camera. The unit will be provided with a standard 1Tb of internal data storage and will contain integrated GPS for vehicle tracking and locating. The system will provide peripheral inputs for measuring and recoding associated vehicle operating data. The comprehensive back-end CCTV management system will centralise and coordinate the bus data and CCTV information.

DTI will be supplying the recorders, cameras, software, and back-end solutions, while the security provider will prime the contract and provide the local project management, installation and IT infrastructure.  The city contract includes an option for another 1,150 buses.

Richard Gougeon, General Manager for the Americas, said: “We are pleased that this major city selected our technology for the surveillance systems on their buses. The DTI technology has been extensively tested and chosen by one of the largest transport operators in the nation and we are confident that we can continuously meet and exceed their expectations.”
