March 11, 2009 - DTI Group receives order for Dubai buses from Dutch bus builder VDL Bus & Coach

DTI Group Limited (DTI) is pleased to announce an order for the supply of advanced video surveillance systems to Dutch bus builder VDL Bus & Coach (VDL) for Road and Transport Authority – the main public transport operator of Dubai, in the UAE.

DTI recently received confirmation of the bid to supply up to 518 transit security systems for VDL and purchase orders have now been received for the first 229 systems.  The buses are destined for Dubai as part of the enhancement to the public transportation system in the city. The solution will include DTI’s latest generation MDR5 recorder, eight cameras, reversing/door display for the driver, GPS, accelerometer, and wireless management system.

DTI has also developed interfaces to integrate its security device into the on-board bus management system which allows for the recording on the MDR5 of specified vehicle alarms and key vehicle operating information as metadata to the video information. In this instance, bus parameters, such as indicators or brakes, can be easily viewed in conjunction with the video surveillance data. The MDR5 will be also installed with a customised plug and play cabling interface catering for easy installation and maintenance.

Netherlands based VDL selected the DTI solution as a first choice for the project. For further information on VDL visit: .

The VDL order further builds on DTI's success in providing advanced transit surveillance solutions and services in the bus, rail and tram market. With over 20,000 cameras installed or on order in buses, trains, and trams globally, DTI is well positioned as a recognised transit surveillance provider.

Jaap Spiering, Business Development Manager of DTI Europe, said: “We are pleased to provide a solution to VDL and Dubai and we look forward to building a strong and enduring relationship for both this project and future projects”.
