July 2, 2008 - DTI Group signs Queensland Transport Regional Bus Contract

DTI Group Limited (DTI) is pleased to announce a significant contract award for the supply and installation of advanced video surveillance systems into the first 90 buses across 15 locations for Queensland Transport’s Regional bus operators.

Given the diversity of bus operator locations and size, Queensland transport selected DTI’s proven solution based on their new hybrid MDR-5 mobile recorder as it provided flexibility across bus sizes coupled with DTI’s growing track record for mass transport in both the Australian and overseas markets. Queensland Transport’s requirements were for a flexible system with the ability to be easily upgraded, as the bus operators business needs required, with around the clock back office services and support.

The scope of works also includes DTI's GPS based vehicle location system, wireless data communications infrastructure, mobile access to the on-board system via 3G and DTI's fleet management software suite. DTI's wireless infrastructure and comprehensive back-end CCTV management system centralises and coordinates the bus CCTV network.

Each bus will be equipped with DTI's latest Mobile Digital Recorder (MDR-5) and between four and five high resolution colour cameras plus wireless infrastructure at selected locations. A microphone located in the forward part of the bus is available to capture and transmit audio/voice communications under 'duress' or emergency situations.

Under the agreement, DTI will provide ongoing services such as help desk assistance and technical support, equipment monitoring and reporting as well as IT infrastructure support.

The Queensland Transport initiative is a capital grant for the cost of on-bus and in depot equipment to deliver a "standard" but highly functional and effective CCTV system across all bus operators. This project further builds on DTI's success across Australia in providing advanced city-wide transit surveillance solutions and services in over half of Australia’s capital cities. The 90 regional buses are only a part of the total number of buses that operators run for Queensland Transport.

Business Development Manager Fred Erdbrink said: “The mobile transit surveillance industry is a fast growing market where the DTI solution is considered well ahead in terms of advanced features (that have proven tangible benefits) and reliability that has been proven in Australia’s diverse environmental conditions. We are pleased to have Queensland Transport as another DTI client who acknowledges the quality, low life cycle cost and value for money the Australian designed and manufactured DTI solution provides. We look forward to helping them achieve the objectives of their safety and security initiative where our solution will be an important tool providing ongoing benefits in the management of equipment, video retrieval and video storage”.
