March 4, 2008 - DTI Group Signs Three Year Maintenance Agreement For PTA Rail Cars

DTI Group Limited (DTI) has been awarded a three year equipment and software maintenance agreement for passenger rail cars in Western Australia.

Under the agreement, DTI will provide ongoing hardware and software maintenance for the upgraded communications, passenger information and video surveillance systems across 48 rail car sets for the Public Transport Authority (PTA). The agreement also includes additional services such as help desk assistance, equipment monitoring and equipment reporting.

The maintenance agreement builds on the $4M system supply contract signed with the PTA in February 2005. Under the supply contract, each rail car was equipped with:

  • An upgraded audio communications system comprising intercom, public address system and an automated digital voice announcement system (VAS). The VAS system provides computer and GPS driven automated announcements for next stop, door open and close and other en-route passenger information messages.
  • An upgraded Passenger Emergency Intercom (PEI) system with full integration with the new video surveillance system.
  • New external LED driven Destination Indication (DI) signs and internal Passenger Information Displays (PID). Both displays are digitally controlled and automated in conjunction with the VAS system.
  • New digital video surveillance system with removable hard disk drive and wireless LAN communications for system management and data downloads.

CEO Richard Johnson said: “This project further extends DTI’s business into the outsourced service business and effectively builds on the service bureau already established for our core customers”.
