March 23, 2015 - DTI Group to Provide Video Surveillance Systems to Kratos for new buses in San Francisco

DTI Group Ltd (ASX:DTI) ("DTI") is pleased to announce an order with Kratos Public Safety & Security Solutions Inc for advanced video surveillance systems for 60 buses. This is the first tranche of the DTI solution which has been specified in a bus procurement tender issued by the San Francisco Municipal Transport Authority (SFMTA). The bus procurement tender includes the manufacture of up to 454 buses over a five-year period. The tender states that the contractor shall provide and install a digital video recording and surveillance system by DTI or an approved equal.

The SFMTA oversees transit, streets and taxis in the city of San Francisco, California and operates over 800 buses, 150 light rail vehicles, 30 street cars and 40 cable cars.

The scope of works includes connection to DTI's GPS-based video data diagnostic system, wireless data communications infrastructure, and fleet management software suite. DTI's wireless infrastructure and comprehensive back-end CCTV management system will centralise and coordinate the bus CCTV data and allow video evidence to be recovered from the buses through an on-line automated CCTV 'booking' system providing significant benefits through the easy management of equipment, video retrieval and video storage.

Each bus will be equipped with up to 11 cameras, including 4 interior and 2 exterior colour cameras, 2 megapixel HD cameras, and 2 transit-only lane enforcement (TOLE) cameras. The specification also includes dual-removable hard drives for separate video surveillance and TOLE storage, 2 microphones, and a system status panel. The 2 TOLE cameras are recorded to a specialised solid state drive, which can be reviewed to provide infringement evidence for vehicles illegally utilising transit-only lanes. Through this TOLE infringement capability, it is envisaged there will be an ongoing reduction in transit delays through a reduction in the illegal use of bus lanes and bus stops.

This procurement specification further builds on DTI's reputation in the United States for providing advanced transit surveillance solutions and services.

Rick Gougeon, DTI’s General Manager – Americas, said: “We are pleased that the DTI solution has once again been selected by one of the largest transport operators in the United States for their bus procurement. It further highlights the customer’s confidence in DTI providing innovative surveillance solutions now and over the next five years.”
