January 7, 2012 - DTI Group to Provide Video Surveillance Systems for Bombardier Transportation

DTI Group is pleased to announce an order for 83 video surveillance systems by Bombardier Transportation across three projects in Australia. Bombardier Transportation is the market leader in rail technology with over 100,000 rail vehicles in operation globally.  The three projects span 46 exiting trains in Perth, a 15 train new build extension project in Perth, and the manufacture of 22 new trains for Adelaide.

Each train will be equipped with DTI's latest rail Digital Recording Unit (DRU–3) with up to 20 high resolution megapixel IP cameras including two forward-facing cameras and up to 6 side view cameras with redundant direct streaming capability. The DRU–3 will be fully integrated into the Bombardier IPTCom (IP Train Communications) network and architecture via DTI supplied network switches and a software communications interface. A Bombardier supplied touch-screen driver’s display unit presents the view of the cameras in the train.

The scope of works also includes DTI's GPS-based vehicle location system, and potential expansion to include wireless data communications infrastructure and DTI's fleet management software suite. The system includes the capability to be readily integrated into DTI's wireless infrastructure and comprehensive back-end CCTV management system.  This tool suite centralises and coordinates the vehicles’ CCTV network and allows video evidence to be recovered from vehicles through an on-line automated CCTV 'booking' system providing significant benefits through the easy management of equipment, video retrieval and video storage.

This project further builds on DTI's success in providing advanced transit surveillance solutions and services to a wide range of customers globally in the rail sector.

Richard Johnson, Managing Director for DTI, said: “We are very pleased that Bombardier selected DTI as its supplier of integrated surveillance solutions across a range of projects. We will be proactively supporting Bombardier to ensure the success of these projects so that the relationship can be expanded further both domestically and overseas.”
