2008, October 6 - DTI Group Receives Order for Rotterdam Metro Cars

DTI Group Limited (DTI) is pleased to announce an order for the supply of advanced video surveillance systems for 81 metro cars of the RET, the main public transport operator of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The RET metro transported 88 million passengers in 2007.

Each metro car will be equipped with DTI's latest Mobile Digital Recorder (MDR-5) and eight high resolution colour cameras plus wireless infrastructure. A Driver Display presents the view of the two exit cameras in each of the metro cars which are connected together to form the metro car-set. Importantly, the MDR-5 systems are configured to auto-discover each other in any coupled metro car-set so that the view from each exit door camera is automatically presented and can be easily seen by the driver without the need for any user intervention notifying which metro cars are coupled together. A single touch on any individual camera image expands that image to full screen size. A second touch reduces the image back to its’ original size.

The order for 81 metro cars was received after a successful trial involving four metro cars, and back office fleet management system and software. After receiving the order for the trial in April with an extremely difficult timeline, the trial equipment was delivered on schedule in May and successfully tested by the Rotterdam customer in June.

Netherlands based company VCS Observation has partnered with DTI for the project. VCS will be the prime contractor and will supply installation services. VCS is a major integrator and provider of surveillance solutions in the Netherlands.

The Rotterdam project further builds on DTI's success in providing advanced transit surveillance solutions and services in the Rail and Tram market. With over 12,000 cameras installed or on order in buses, trains, and trams globally, DTI is well positioned as a recognised transit surveillance provider.

Jaap Spiering, Business Development Manager of DTI Netherlands said: “We are pleased to provide a solution to VCS and Rotterdam which meets their challenging requirements and we look forward to building a strong and enduring relationship”.

VCS Observation is the RET's preferred supplier of video surveillance solutions. For years both companies have been working together to improve security in public transport in and around the Rotterdam area.

According to Michel Neelemans, Manager Operations of VCS Observation, apart from CCTV surveillance at the metro stations, camera surveillance in metro cars was high on the priority list of the RET. “Through an excellent cooperation with DTI the trial was completed very successfully and installation of the Mobile Digital Recorder and the camera's in the metro cars can now start. VCS Observation and the RET both hope this extension to the current video camera supervision will improve security and livability in Rotterdam's public transport system even more.”

–END–

About DTI Group

DTI (Digital Technology International) provides advanced surveillance systems, solutions and services in the global mass transit industry. DTI’s customers are transit agencies and operators which are offered a range of professional products and services that encompass on-board recording equipment, fleet management systems, backend mass storage and retrieval facilities and end-to-end managed services. Sales and project delivery is undertaken both by DTI directly and through its global partners’ network.

DTI is a recognised supplier to the mass transit surveillance market.

DTI Group Ltd and GE Security Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), have entered into an agreement covering the design, development and distribution of MobileView IV, the latest and most advanced addition to GE's highly successful MobileView product range. GE Security is the US's largest transit surveillance provider with more than 14,000 MobileView systems installed in transit agencies across the nation.

"The MobileView system helps transit systems save money by deterring crime and vandalism as well as disposing of false and misleading claims more quickly," said Robert Siegel, GE Security's General Manager for Video and Software Solutions. "By showcasing a safer riding experience, MobileView helps increase passenger volumes and Rapid Transit Authority revenues. It is successfully employed by transit systems in Chicago, Las Vegas, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Miami, Phoenix and Reno."

Under the strategic agreement, GE Security will license DTI's transit surveillance I.P. / technology for the MobileView IV product and it's associated CCTV investigation and fleet management software suites. GE Security will market and distribute the MobileView product range and will pay to DTI license fees for each system sold. MobileView IV is available through GE's extensive global dealer network.

While final licensing and distribution agreements were consummated in October 2006, DTI and GE Security have been actively engaged on the design and development phase of this next generation transit surveillance solution for some 18 months. DTI will manufacture the first 750 MobileView IV systems from its Perth, Western Australia facility after which time GE Security will take over manufacturing responsibilities. Deliveries of MobileView IV through GE Security are to commence in October 2006.

DTI's partnership with GE Security represents a major growth opportunity for the company as it builds its business globally. GE Security's decision to adopt DTI's technology in its next generation MobileView product is a strong endorsement to DTI's success in developing advanced surveillance technologies which are ideally suited and tailored to the needs of transit agencies.

MobileView IV records up to 12 cameras at up to 120 pictures per second, offers up to 1Tb of internal data storage, has integrated GPS for vehicle tracking and locating and provides extensive peripheral inputs for measuring and recoding associated vehicle operating data including speed, braking, turn indicator use and g-force levels.

DTI Group Ltd has been awarded through public tender, a major contract by the South Australian Government to supply, install and maintain CCTV equipment across Adelaide's 650 Metro Buses. The project is a major security undertaking which will deliver 'whole of fleet' video surveillance across the Adelaide bus network.

Each bus will be equipped with DTI's latest Mobile Digital Recorder (MDR-4) and five high resolution colour cameras. A microphone located in the forward part of the bus is available to capture audio/voice communications under 'duress' or emergency situations.

Extensions to the Government's scope of works were negotiated directly between DTI and the Adelaide bus operators to include DTI's GPS based vehicle location system, wireless data communications infrastructure and DTI's fleet management software suite. The combined Government-Private contract totalled over $4.5M and will see Adelaide's buses equipped with one of the most advanced city-wide transit surveillance systems in the country.

DTI's wireless infrastructure and back-end CCTV management system centralises and coordinates the bus CCTV network and allows video evidence to be recovered from buses through an on-line automated CCTV 'booking' system.

For example, video evidence pertaining to a security incident is entered by CCTV operators into the network by way of computer terminal. The CCTV network then automatically locates and recovers the requested information from the appropriate bus and stores it on one of DTI's 12 CCTV data servers located across Adelaide. The CCTV operator is then able to review and investigate the incident using DTI's CCTV investigation software.

The Adelaide project further builds on DTI's success across Australia in providing advanced city-wide transit surveillance operations and positions DTI as the major digital CCTV provider in Australia.
