Mobile Digital Recorder (MDR-5)

MDR5The core on-board recording system, or Mobile Digital Recorder (MDR), has been exclusively engineered to withstand the rigors of transit vehicle use. The MDR-5's design integrates video, audio and GPS tracking which is supported by comprehensive data management systems to deliver a geographically enriched, fleet-wide surveillance and incident management solution.

MDR-5 is a multi-application, on-vehicle data recording system providing video and audio surveillance, engine and vehicle data logging and GPS based vehicle tracking.

Feature summary:

  • 8 or 16 video input channels and 8 or 16 synchronised audio channels

  • H.264 compression with hot-swappable 500GB or 1TB drive

  • Gigabit Ethernet port which caters for high speed data transfer

  • Integrated GPS vehicle tracking system and vehicle management system

  • 1 live video output channel

  • 2 analogue, 8 digital, 2 RS232/422 interfaces

  • Ruggedised, shock proof design

  • 9-32 vdc vehicle operation

CCTV Investigation Software

CCTV Investigation SoftwareDTI's CCTV investigation suite is a software package which provides comprehensive search, data download, incident analysis and review of recorded information.

The software provides both live and historical review with advanced incident searches, image enhancements, data archiving, clip exporting to CD/DVD and printing functions.

Player control functions allow forward, backward, frame-by-frame, multi-speed and pause operations during the review of information. Analysis function then allow the use to zoom in/out and pan regions of interest.

Selected information may be printed to hardcopy, saved as still frames (e.g. jpeg, bmp) or saved as video sequences (e.g. mpeg, AVI).

The CCTV investigation suite also offers geographic (street level) mapping with vehicle tracking and graphical overlays vehicle operational data to compliment incident analysis (e.g. brake use, vehicle speed, turn indicator state, door state, g-force levels).

Surveillance Management System

Surveillance management syste,DTI's Surveillance Management System (SMS) is a comprehensive 'back-end' vehicle monitoring and CCTV job management system that automatically prioritises and schedules the recovery of surveillance incidents using high-speed WiFi / WLAN communications infrastructure.

Feature summary:

  • Provides automated CCTV downloads using WiFi and other high-speed communications infrastructure.

  • Manages, schedules and sequences the recovery of multiple CCTV data requests across multiple vehicles and depots.

  • Automatically downloads in-service detected events such as 'code-red' or 'driver duress' incidents, excessive g-force conditions and then notifies the appointed staff.

  • Provides comprehensive equipment and network 'health' information and generates defect reports for maintenance and servicing purposes.

  • SMS removes the traditionally resource intensive task of maintaining and controlling a large scale transit CCTV network.

Automated Maintenance System

Automated Maintenance SystemDTI's Automated Maintenance System (AMS) is an optional module which monitors the condition of the vast quantity of cameras and recording devices installed across a public transit fleet.

AMS undertakes periodic camera and equipment 'health' checks to determine the operating condition and performance of the CCTV fleet . Condition and service reports are then distributed electronically (email) to parties responsible for fleet maintenance.

Automated periodic camera checks are a key feature of AMS and are undertaken to monitor and assess correct camera alignment, focus and optical quality. The system also assists in the detection of visual obstructions and occlusions such as graffiti and other forms of vandalism.

AMS removes the resource intensive task of manually visiting each vehicle to determine if the surveillance system is functioning correctly or has been tampered with.

Accelerometer (g-force sensor)

AccelerometerDTI offers an optional sensor to measure the acceleration or g-forces imposed on the vehicle and passengers. When installed the sensor measure and records all 3 axis of motion:

  • x = longitudinal (braking and acceleration)

  • y = transverse (left and right turning forces)

  • z = vertical (up and down forces, bumps, curbs)

The recorded g-force information may be displayed and reviewed in coordination with the video and GPS location data.

Vehicle braking, speed, use of turn indicators and street location information is integrated with the video feeds for comprehensive accident investigation or for driver training and assessment.

In addition, the g-force system may also be configured with pre-set auto-trigger points to automatically tag, quarantine and download segments of video and operational data when the vehicle's operation exceeds these threshold values.

Vehicle Location System

Vehicle Location SystemThe Vehicle Location System is an optional module which delivers precision geographical references for all recorded parameters including video images, audio communications and the range of parameters recorded by the Vehicle Data Recorder. The integration of GPS tracking with CCTV data is one of the key features of the DTI system.

Features summary:

  • Monitor bus locations and display bus tracks in coordination with other video surveillance information.

  • Display vehicle locations on street maps and other G.I.S. style displays such as aerial photography.

  • Overlay bus routes, bus stop locations and other meta-data during investigation.

  • Search and retrieve surveillance information using vehicle locations.

  • Integrate and overlay vehicle operational data including speed, heading and location with camera feeds.

Vehicle Data Recorder

Vehicle Data RecorderThe Vehicle Data Recorder is an optional module that enables complimentary bus operational and engine management data to be recorded, monitored, retrieved and reviewed in coordination with the surveillance data.

A comprehensive range of configurable inputs are provided for the measurement of bus operating data and peripheral devices. The measured data streams are recorded digitally by the MDR-4 with respect to date, time and geographical location of the bus and are fully integrated with the video and audio surveillance data.

All recorded data may be downloaded for investigation and review and can be analysed and presented graphically using a G.I.S. based mapping interface (see Vehicle Location System module).

Typical information recorded by the Vehicle Data Recorder:

  • Door open / close status

  • Driver alarms such as code-red or duress events

  • Bus 'kneeling' state (side lowered entrance)

  • Left / right turn indicator use

  • Foot brake / park brake applied

  • Anti-lock-brake system activated

  • Horn usage

  • Gearbox 'kick-down'

  • Gearbox, engine and cabin temperature
